{Enjoy it while it lasts}

I read this ~

And I do this!

It's so painful I just can't stand it.
I'm starting a petition that the government should
be issuing free trips to Hawaii for those of us who have to live in the Northwest
and put up with this absurdity.

Are you with me?

If so sign below.  I'll be sure to get it to the powers at be.

After you're done...get out and enjoy the semi-sunny, overcast-ish, currently rain free day.
It may be the last of it's kind for awhile.

LC Central Office TRIVIA

A few weeks ago I stopped by the central office at Lynden Christian.
This is what happened...

When I walked in all {and I mean ALL}  of the ladies in the office started showing off their
Sole Obsession shoes.
It was hilarious and totally cute.
Each of the ladies that were working that day happened to be wearing the shoes they had
bought from Sole Obsession.
The moment was so priceless that we just had to get a picture.
Thankfully the school photographer was on site and Becky snapped a shot of all of us sporting our awesome shoes.

Thanks ladies for supporting the store and shopping local.

So now for the trivia...
If you can tell me who one of the ladies is in this photo
(without asking at the Central Office ~ no cheating)
you can be the proud recipient of $10 Sole Obsession Bucks.
Redeemable on your next pair of shoes.
So start guessing and see how well you do.

{Leave your email address in the comment section or email me so I can get your $10 coupon to you!}

*If you are in the picture you can play too.  :)
*First 15 comments win.  Offer ends 1/21/11 so get your comments in soon.
*Some restrictions apply.  See store for more details.

Raspberries come and go

...but Sole Obsession will last forever.
We survived another Raspberry Festival.  It was busy, fun, entertaining...and did I mention busy?
Thanks to all of you who showed up to say "hi".  I love seeing friendly faces throughout the day.

Here's some pics of our booth.  You will have to stop by next year if you missed us this time around.

If you came out and joined the festivities you should check out the pictures captured by the Lynden Tribune photographers.  They post all their pictures and you can even purchase them online.  Its a pretty cool set up.  Check it out at the lyndentribune.com in their Photo Gallery section.  (or click here.)

Lynden

Sometimes people ask me why I opened a store in Lynden. "Why Lynden?" "Why not Bellingham?" "Do you like living in such a small town?" "Is there anything to do in Lynden?" "Isn't it hard to break in to the cliques?" Well to all of you who wonder the same thing, I come back with, "Why NOT Lynden?" Lynden, as a kid, was always this magical place. I grew up in Canada and would travel to the US with my family through Lynden. I can distinctly remember the farm house that I chose for my own on Vinup Rd. (Now occupied by my daughter's friend). I loved the perfectly manicured lawns. The trees lining Front Street and the old homes that have shared their space for centuries. The city park.
It is all so impossibly beautiful and I still love it just as much today as when I was a little girl. I told my dad once that one day I would live in Lynden. I'm sure he rolled his eyes and said "Sure honey", translation~"whatever". But here I am...living in my childhood dream. Wow!
Recently I have taken to learning more about the history of this great town. I have read some history books from the library about how Lynden began and visited the graveyard with The Judson Family (Lynden's founder) tombstones. Its great to learn about the people who formed this town and see how it has become, in part, what it is today. I hope that as a local business owner I can help to maintain the values held dear for generations. Hard work, honest business, community contributor...the list goes on. I have learned a lot over this last 10 months of business about how much work it takes to keep a town like Lynden what it is. It doesn't happen by accident. I can't wait to be a part of it for years to come.

Sole Obsession Footwear, in blog-world

Lots of people have been blogging about their "Sole Obsession". I love it. I love that people buy shoes here and like their shoes so much that they blog about them. I love that a shoe store in Lynden is big news and I get to be a part of it. I love that people (I will add some people because I am well informed that not all) like my taste in shoes and like the store. And the free advertising is a wonderful bonus. So check out everyone's love of shoes and what they found to take home from Sole Obsession Footwear.

Oh the fun of a local, small, and supportive community. I couldn't be in a better place.

Any other Sole Obsession Footwear bloggers out there that I have missed? Link and share.
