Shoe of the Week

I cannot believe that summer is over!
My mornings will never be the same again.  It is all chaos and confusion from here on out.
That is what my world is like when we get back into the school routine.  For an hour every morning all you can hear is the word "Mom" repeated over and over at alarming decibels while my kids flounder around looking for their toothbrushes, socks, backpack, and everything else you can think of.
I'm kinda looking forward to it.  I like it when they have stuff to do.  At least for a couple of months.  After which I will once again be longing for the lazy days of summer to return.

To celebrate back to school our Shoe of the Week sale is for the kids.
Come in and take a look at our back to school styles and get $10 OFF your choice of back to school footwear.  This includes adult shoes for kids that are wearing adult sizes.

Here's some pics of what we have.  More styles are available in the store.

(Kids must be school age.  Limit one pair per child.  Not valid with any other offer.  Not for adults~sorry!)

New Jambu's

New Jambu's have hit the shelves at Sole Obsession.

For those of you who missed the memo, J-41 changed their name to Jambu last year.
The name has changed but the comfort, support, and style have remained the same.

Check these out:

Come try them on for yourself.  You won't be disappointed.

EEEEK! I'm way behind

Oh me, oh my!  I can't keep up.
I realized today that the Shoe of the Week did not get posted.
I haven't blogged in a week.
And I haven't been running.

UGH!

It's that time of year where things get crazy at the Ellis home.
Each year (for the last 2 1/2) we have been hosting International Students during the school year.
This year we have the pleasure of hosting two guys from Holland.  Yes...we are embracing the Motherland and welcoming our natives to Lynden.
Bart and Jesse in Seattle.  They are the two on the left.
Bart with the hat and Jesse with the white t-shirt.
The drill sergeant is in the grey shirt looking a bit lost next to all those Football players.
Our new boys, Bart and Jesse, arrived on Aug 13th.  Just in time to help me move all the heavy items into the new store.  Our way of saying, "Welcome to America!"

  • So we have added 2 more making 7 at the Ellis home!  It is a wee bit crowded.  And there is a lot of cooking to be done.  (Tonight I made meatloaf, Dutch potatoes {by mistake ~ I didn't know they were Dutch style}, Greek salad, and my mother-in-law made berry cobbler for dessert.  MMMMM!)
  • We've had THE MOVE which was, of course, all consuming for a couple of weeks.
  • The Fair, which was busy for me at the store ~ an awesome and busy first week in our new spot.
  • Fall shipments arriving like crazy.  Which means LOTS of extra work for yours truly.
  • Back to school shopping and preparation with the kids.
  • The Drill Sergeant is back to work this week.  Which means I have to help out at home more.  :(
  • In-Laws visiting this week and HELPING with kiddos.  Thank goodness.
  • Prep work for the Fall shoe show coming up in September.  Again lots more work for you know who.

And the list just keeps going.

So forgive me for being behind.

I'll be back on track next week.  I hope!

And just because I hate to disappoint...for our Shoe of the Week special come in
during the rest of this week, mention the blog
and get $5 OFF any shoe in the store.

The moving post that never was

Did I say I'd post about the move on Tuesday?  I don't know what I was thinking.  I've been meaning to.  I even took pictures with my friends camera because I can't find mine.  Now I have lost hers. (Shhhh...don't tell on me.)

To put it bluntly this week has been insane.  I'm officially over the edge.  I'm embracing one of my favorite U2 songs "I'm running to stand still".  I finally understand the meaning behind it and hoping that Monday is my stand still day.

Here's my thoughts on the big MOVE...

1.  I love friends and family that help.  A huge thanks to Jerrie, Nicole, Katie and my handy man Arnie.  My BFF's right now.
2.  I dislike trying to decide on a new layout.  This part has caused me to
S-T-R-E-S-S.  I can't move the shelves around once they are up so it's now or never.  ACK!
3.  I'm severely ADD (self-diagnosis) and jump from one task to the next which is causing me a lot of frustration.  A lot is started, nothing is finished.  As Arnie would say, "Aiy, Senorita!"
4.  I cannot wait to unveil the new store and the new shoes and boots this Monday.  It's like the perfect storm.  A ton of fall styles have started to arrive this week.  Just in time for me to move them (this part is the 'storm' ~ like I need more to move) and have a fantastic unveiling for all of you on Monday (the 'perfect' part).  I am very excited for fall shoes.  They are awesome.

Here's a sneak peek ~

Foot Reduction Surgery?

What do you think?  Would you under go foot reduction surgery to fit into those cute heels you've always wanted?  Well apparently now you can.  Hollywood is taking plastic surgery and vanity to a whole new level.

I have to admit...I'm a bit jealous.

Maybe jealous isn't the right word.  I'm intrigued.  I would gladly give up my size 12 for anything smaller.  A size 10 would be fantastic.  I would be dancing in the streets in my cute new shoes.

The real issue is how much does something like that cost?  What would that set me back?  And I have read that you need physical therapy to learn how to walk again in some instances.    That sounds like too much risk to me.

Check out this article on some other options to change the look of your feet.  (note:  I do not in any way condone this blog but found the article to be interesting.)

Toe reduction could seriously help my situation.  Okay maybe not...that sounds painful.

I'm thinking that vanity has definitely reached an all time low.
